I’m Back…. well, Almost

So I’m sitting here waiting for this bloody video to render so i can continue to edit it in anticipation of my final year thesis presentation this monday and I thought to myself, why not get back into the habit of blogging.

So just a brief hello again to anyone who bothers to read my random ramblings (that one’s for you John ūüėõ )and thank you to whoever it was who checked back in at least once a day (or, if that person happens to be persons then thank you all of you).

Also, slightly awesome note in my books, if you google “Dark Knight Rises Pre Production” my blog is the first link ūüėÄ so thanks to google and whoever read that blog to get it up there ( I know that it’s just some random thing but I’m a huge fan of the last two films and cannot wait for this one so to have my name linked in anyway to it is awesome!)

Now, I know I’ve a lot to do once I finish my thesis presentation and¬†subsequent Exhibition (25th -27th of this month in the Helix, DCU¬†) such as actual blogging, updating the 30 day challenge pages (I finished it on Facebook but have not had the time to update here), and fill you two in on my plans for the summer but for now, I shall just leave you with a hint as to what my next post will be all about (how will you ever guess):

{edit}: sorry, make that the next post after the next one. The next one is dedicated to my Thesis Exhibition coming up this week that you should totally go to cause it’ll be awesome :D!!!

Too Tired to Blog

I’m too tired today and I’m getting all sorts of hassle to actually do some work in the house so instead of a proper blog post today, I’m just gonna share my favourite videos that I’ve come across on

Dark Knight Rises: Pre-Production Preview

The Dark Knight is currently the highest grossing comic book film of all time and is also in the top ten highest grossing films having raked in just over 1 billion dollars world wide since it’s release(before Avitar came out it was fourth in the list having since fallen to seventh with the release of Toy Story 3 and Alice in Wonderland last year). ¬†It has won two Oscars and countless other Awards (well not countless but I couldn’t be bother counting them all). It is personally ranked highly in my 5 favourite films of all time. So the question is, what now? The pressure is on and Nolan has just over a year to to produce what will most definately be the most anticipated sequel of 2012, if not the decade.

So what do we know so far? Well first of all, Two-face is dead. Aaron Eckhart confirmed this shortly after the release of the Dark Knight. Apparently we were meant to see more of the Joker but with the passing of Heath Ledger, his character has also been ruled out of any further appearances. Nolan has stated that the Riddler and Mr Freeze will not be villains in the film and he also stated that he felt that the Penguin is to difficult a character to portray so we can rule him out. As for the teen side kick, Nolan has stated that as long as he is at the helm of the Batman film series, Robin will not be making an appearance in his films. Read the rest of this entry

Evil Dead (and what came before/after) Movie review

Evil Dead, Evil Dead 2 and Army of Darkness

Evil Dead, Evil Dead 2 and Army of Darkness

Up until recently, Sam Raimi was that guy who made the 2 films about Spiderman that were fairly decent… … then sony decided they were going to do a Spider-man reboot so they cut him off for the fourth film. “But Eoin, what about the” THAT FILM NEVER HAPPENED NOW LETS MOVE SWIFTLY ON FROM THE TOPIC AND NEVER TALK OF IT AGAIN!!!

So yeah, I had only ever seen Sam Raimi superhero movies up until recently and was unfamiliar with his horror works for which, apparently, he is better known. So, yesterday, having absolutely nothing else better to do, (other than ya know, college work and what not but who wants to do that) so I took a gander on Along the way, I came across various awesome little videos that I proceeded to post on my Tumblr, my Twitter and my facebook respectively. Eventually, I stumbled upon a website called¬† which, if you couldn’t guess from the name, has a SHIT LOAD of free horror films that you can watch, FOR FREE!!! The best thing about this site was that most of the films( I say most; I only watched three films and two of them were located on the site) didn’t require you to link off to different sites to watch them, they were all embedded right there. They were also all nicely¬†divided¬†into various categories so I decided to head towards the cult film section.

DCUfm 24 Hour Broadcast Endurance Test

24 HOURS OF NON STOP MEEEEEE!!!! possibly… I have to get picked first. So DCUfm, the college radio station where I have my show Boomstick every Wednesday from 7 – 8 pm; we¬†discuss¬†many topics of the nerdy nature (multiple plugplugplug), are hosting a charity 24 hour broadcast-athon where 2 radio DJs will spend a full 24 hours trapped in the studio with no one to keep them company but a few computer monitors and the various random people who stare at them through the windows of the fish bowl that is DCUfm studio in the HUB. Random Bus Blog 8: Clash of the Superhero Movies

A few weeks back, we covered the topic of comic book movies from 2011 versus those of 2012 on my radio show Boomstick. However, I didn’t feel like we had covered the topic in dept enough due to a lack of time and our tendency to ramble on about off topic subjects.
So today I put forward my arguments for and/or against the following superhero movies of 2011/2012:
Thor, Captain America, X-men First Class, Green Lantern.
2012 –
The Amazing Spider-man, Dark Knight Rises, The Avengers, Superman Man of Steel. Read the rest of this entry

Superbowl… Marvel Film Trailers

So I’m not really an American Football follower but COME ON STEELERS!!! (I’ve got a 5er bet on the game so tune into the game to see if i win or not). Anyway, enough of that, now for what we’re really here for. Trailer reviews!

Right, so Thor or Cap first? hmmm well since I’ve seen Thor Trailers before and I don’t plan on delving too much into the Thor trailer I think I’ll cover the Cap first. Read the rest of this entry

Tom & Jerry: The Movie… They Can Talk???

So I just sat down to a nice night of tidying up my blog a bit when all of a sudden, this awesome dude posts a link on Facebook to the Tom & Jerry Movie on Youtube. Naturally I decided, a what the heck, I’ll give it a watch and see what it’s like, after all, who doesn’t like a bit of cat’n’mouse fun?

An hour and a half later (well technically 3 hours cause I kept jumping off to twitter and StumbleUpon) and I’ve decided that I should review it. so here goes.

The movie begins as all Tom and Jerry cartoons do, with the cat trying to catch the mouse, and mostly failing to do so. however, once the opening credits stop rolling, we find out that the owners of the house are moving. so naturally tom, the family cat, is set to go along with them. However Jerry, his rodent nemesis, tries to sneak along with them and in an attempt to rid himself of the mouse once and for all, Tom winds up stranding himself with Jerry in the now empty house. One Week Of Blogging & Tron … not at the Oscars? (much)

So I’ve made it this far, guess there’s no turning back now huh. Thanks for anyone who’s read my random ramblings thus far, I assure you they can only get better as I learn to read and write more better. But in all seriousness, I’ll do my best to keep blogging at least 3 times a week. from here on out.

So, anyone as surprised as I was with the lack of Tron Legacy in the Oscar Nominations this year? Yes, I know it was a bit of a silly film to be completely honest but come on, it was an absolute visual treat and the soundtrack alone should get at least 5 oscars (can they do that? no ok fine then but it still kicked ass).

For those who know me, I had been looking forward to Tron Legacy ever since I caught wind of the faintest hint that it would happen just over 2 years ago. This may seem a bit silly since I hadn’t even fully seen the original before then but all I knew was that it looked like it was going to be one of the most visually fantastic films of ¬†all time! I followed the production and post avidly on the internet and in film magazines absorbing every little piece of information I could find about the film before eventually sitting down to watch the original cause, lets face it, there’s¬†absolutely¬†no point getting so worked up about something if I haven’t even seen the original that it’s based on.
